October 30 and 31 Halloween in San Javier
Activities for youngsters and grown-ups in San Javier, La Manga and El Mirador
Spain now celebrates Halloween as if it had been a part of national tradition for centuries (it hasn’t) and the municipality of San Javier is now exception, with activities being held by the Fiestas department of the Town Hall in the town itself, La Manga and El Mirador on and around Friday 31st October.
On 31st October a special edition of the “En tu parque o en el mío” family activity is being held in the Parque Almansa in San Javier, with a performance by the dance groups of the Polideportivo and a Terror Game Show. Among the events taking place are the “Boda de la novia cadáver” show, a surprise visit from a terror carácter and a snack with popcorn for all those attending.
Prior to that, on Thursday evening, a Halloween mile run is taking place, with registration opening at 17.00 and the race beginning at 18.30 before a fun run half an hour later.
In La Manga del Mar Menor, meanwhile, the celebrations on Friday take place at Galerías el Flamenco (km 4), with events beginning for children at 19.00 and for adults at 22.00. The attractions include a terror tunnel, workshops, music and snacks.
And in El Mirador, the fun starts at 16.30 at the Centro Cívico with inflatable bouncy castles, buns and hot chocolate and the traditional “tostones de la abuela”. Little ones are encouraged to go around the village trick-or-treating, and afterwards hot dogs are served.
For more local events, news and visiting information contact the tourist offices of San Javier or go to the home page of San Javier Today.
Oficina de Turismo de San Javier
The municipality of San Javier has three main offices giving tourist information to visitors, as well as two information points. The tourist offices are located in Santiago de la Ribera, on the ground floor of the town hall in San Javier and at the start of La Manga. There is also a summer tourist information point located on the seafront in Santiago de la Ribera as well as one at kilometre 12-13 of La Manga del Mar Menor next to Playa Mistral.
Due to its location on the fringes of the Mar Menor and Mediterranean, San Javier has a period of intense summer tourism activity during the peak summer months, although it is popular with retirees of all nationalities out of peak season.
Tickets for the annual San Javier Jazz Festival can be purchased at the Festival office in San Javier Town Hall, Plaza de España.
