December 26 to 31 Annual Fiestas and Braying competition in Las Balsicas The annual fiestas of the village of Las Balsicas, which is tucked away in the hills between Puerto de Mazarrón and Mazarrón, are taking place this year between Christmas Day and New Year's Eve with the following events included in the schedule:

Friday December 26

21.30: The official opening speech of the fiestas is given by Juan Andrés Vivancos Rodríguez, followed by hot chocolate and cake.

22.00: Live entertainment with Alma Flamenca.

Saturday December 27

9.30: Procession to honour La Purísima, the patron of the village, accompanied by the musicians of the Cuadrilla de Las Balsicas.

13.00: Migas competition.

16.00: Children’s activities including a sack race and many other competitions.

18.00: Musical bingo.

19.30: A festival of “cuadrilla” traditional music and dance groups, with the groups of Las Balsicas, Isla Plana and La Aljorra.

Sunday December 28, the Feast Day of the Innocents

December 26 to 31 Annual Fiestas and Braying competition in Las Balsicas 12.00: Holy Mass in honour of the La Purísima, the patron of the village, followed by the donkey braying performed by Bartolo and Paco.

14.00: A communal paella priced at just 1 euro per portion, and when you pay you get a ticket for the prize draw (prizes a ham and three bottles of wine)!

16.30: Musical bingo.

18.30: An evening of music provided by Los de la Juana.

22.00: Firework display to end the day!

Wednesday December 31

1.00 a.m: Nochevieja Remember New Year party.
