San Javier road closures as new Cuatro Picos roundabout works begin
The Ayuntamiento has set out alternative routes for traffic travelling between San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera, which will also impact bus routes

Traffic around San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera should expect some changes this week as work starts on a new roundabout at Cuatro Picos.
The San Javier Town Hall has announced temporary traffic diversions for Wednesday September 9 and Thursday September 10, while construction work takes place at the junction of Avenida Aviación Española, Avenida Mar Menor, Calle Cabo Roche and Avenida del Mediterráneo.
The changes will also affect buses using the area, with temporary alterations to several routes while the works are carried out.
For anyone heading towards Santiago de la Ribera, vehicles will be diverted at the roundabout close to the Policía Local headquarters, where Avenida Aviación Española meets Avenida del Recuerdo. From there, traffic will use the service road alongside Avenida Aviación Española before continuing via Calle Cabo Couso, Calle Cabo Roche and Calle Cabo Huertas. Vehicles will then rejoin the RM-F34 and Avenida Bartolomé Paños Pérez, where they can continue along their usual route.
The diversion in the opposite direction will affect traffic coming from Avenida Mar Menor towards San Javier.
Vehicles will be redirected in the Barrio de los Pescadores area and will follow an alternative route through Plaza del Segura and the service road alongside Avenida Mar Menor. The route will then continue along Calle Piragua, Avenida del Mediterráneo and the SJ-77, before joining Camino de la Paloma and Avenida de Pinatar towards San Javier.
The temporary arrangements are expected to be in place while the latest stage of the roundabout works is carried out.
Bus passengers in particular are being advised to check their usual stop before travelling. The Ayuntamiento will put up notices at affected bus stops showing where the nearest temporary stop can be found.
The changes apply to both ordinary road traffic and public transport using the Cuatro Picos area, meaning journeys through this part of San Javier could take a little longer than usual while the diversions are in place.
