June 28-July 3 La Manga hosts Spanish Beach Handball Championships
More than 27,000 people are expected to descend on Cartagena during the event
The summer season will get off to a sporty start in La Manga del Mar Menor, which is playing host to the Spanish Club Cup and the Territorial Team Championship on Puerto Bello beach between June 28 and July 3.The Spanish and Regional Handball Federations have organised the separate events with the collaboration of the Cartagena City Council and the Region of Murcia.“It will have an economic impact of more than two million euros. Once again, the Cartagena City Council is committed to the combination of tourism and sport," said the Councillor for Sports, José Martínez.The first event to be held is the Spanish Club Cup, on June 28, 29 and 30. A total of 2,048 talented players will make up the 128 teams who will battle it out in categories ranging from Children's to Senior, both male and female.A stadium with capacity for 600 spectators will be set up for its celebration. All matches will be broadcast on live stream and the senior final can be seen on Teledeporte.Next, on July 1, 2 and 3, the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Teams (CESA) will take place, which will have the participation of teams from the 17 Autonomous Communities in Spain, as well as the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, and a total of 1,400 players from the Children's, cadet and youth, male and female categories.Adding the participants in both competitions, their teams and families, more than 27,000 overnight stays are expected in La Manga hotels for the days of this sporting event.Image: Ayuntamiento de Cartagena
