Camposol Business Association supports campaign for year-round A&E service in Puerto de Mazarron
It is now 15 years since the 365-day service was dropped by the Murcia health service
The Camposol Business Association has offered its help to remedy a situation which has persisted many years, namely the lack of a permanent A&E service at the public health centre in Puerto de Mazarrón, buy launching a petition to gather signatures which will be added to those collected by the Town Hall (as announced last week).
Representatives of the CBA were invited to attend a presentation held by Mazarrón Council along with various other associations, and heard Mayor Ginés Campillo, stressing the importance of collaboration and the unity of the entire municipality in demanding the much-missed service. Deputy Mayor Jesús García added that the municipal plenary has repeatedly and unanimously approved, with the support of all political groups, motions demanding this health improvement, and that political unity in Mazarrón has been total on this matter. “What has not existed”, he says, “is a response from the regional government who are the health service provider”.
The signature collection sheets will be available in the health centres and at the different associations of the municipality, with special emphasis on the business associations, whose affiliated establishments will also have these forms so that residents and visitors can join the petition.
The argument between Mazarrón and the regional government of Murcia has been ongoing since 2011 when the service was halted, and although a sporadic service has been introduced, it was only for the months of July and August – not very helpful for permanent residents, who are left with 10 months of the year without emergency cover.
In Camposol, petition forms are to be made available at the Compusurf office in Sector B at a time still to be confirmed.
