Knowing that more and more cyclists are taking to the municipality’s roads thanks to the fine weather and in another bid to encourage environmentally-friendly travel, Alhama de Murcia has erected a second bicycle repair station in the car park in front of Camping Sierra Espuña, located in El Berro.
Ensuring that cyclists will never be left flat, this new facility is in addition to a similar one installed in the Plaza del Nazareno and offers a complete tool kit and inflation pump for basic bicycle maintenance on the go.

The location of the new repair station is not a coincidence; El Berro is the starting point of one of the Espubike sections, the Sierra Espuña mountain bike route, as well as the Espuroad South Route, one of the most popular tourist road bike routes. The entire area is hugely popular with sporty holidaymakers and locals, especially during the weekend.
The promotion of cycle tourism and ecotourism activities is a priority for the Alhama de Murcia council, since these activities not only improve the health of visitors and residents, but also contribute to the protection of the environment.
The bicycle is a simple, affordable, clean and environmentally sustainable means of transportation, according to the town hall, and its use reduces greenhouse gas emissions and provides significant benefits to people's health and fitness.

By making cycling easier and hassle-free, the authorities hope to further reduce the environmental impact of transport in the municipality and encourage a greater connection with nature.
“We invite all cyclists, both local and visiting, to make use of these stations and enjoy the routes that our region offers. The Department of Tourism will continue working to improve the infrastructure and services available, thus contributing to the development of sustainable and quality tourism in Alhama de Murcia,” a council spokesperson said.
